What makes the Wilder Kaiser region so special?

The Wilder Kaiser holiday region is found in north-eastern Tyrol and comprises the four villages of Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going. The Wilder Kaiser mountain range, from which the area takes its name, rises to a height of 2,344 metres above sea level and forms part of the Kaisergebirge Nature Reserve. Söll itself lies in a sunny valley basin between the Wilder Kaiser and the Hohe Salve (1,828 m) – a small village with a population of around 4,000, which has retained the character of a traditional Tyrolean mountain village.

The region is known as the setting for the German series “Der Bergdoktor” (“the mountain doctor”), for the alpine lakes Astbergsee and Hintersteiner See, and for the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental – one of Austria’s largest interconnected ski areas.
